Black Stars Of Ghana For Afcon 2021:

Following the draw, the Black Stars of Ghana are left with no option but to hit the gear running for the competition in Cameron. Coach Charles Akonnor is expected to assemble the best of materials for the upcoming tournament. 2022 will be 40 years since the Black Stars of Ghana last clinched the Afcon trophy. Ghana eased past host country Libya to claim glory in 1982 and since then, the country and its mass followers have endured heartbreaks after reaching finals. Post-1982, the Black Stars of Ghana have made a final appearance in 1992 but lost to Cote D’Ivoire in Senegal, 2010 but lost to Egypt in Angola and 2015 but lost to Cote D’Ivoire in Equatorial Guinea.

President Akufo-Addo earlier this year charged the Black Stars of Ghana to win the Africa Cup of Nations next year.

“The target is to bring the cup home by winning the Afcon in 2022. We must go a step further than our second-place finishes in 1992, 2010, and 2015 and end the 40-year drought for a title.”
