Here is why Gov’t Workers without Ghana Card won’t be paid from first December

According to Controller and Accountant-General Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, government employees without National Identification Authority (NIA) numbers would not be paid salaries starting December 1, 2021.

As reported by Mr Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant-Department General’s (CAGD), is collaborating with NIA to have harmonized database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers on government payroll.

As part of the Government of Ghana’s efforts to deliver fast, secure, and verified payroll service to government employees and pensioners while reducing the risk of undeserving payment or claims, Mr Kwaning Bosompem, Controller and Accountant-General, is collaborating with NIA to have a harmonized database to facilitate biometric and unique identification of all workers.

“By this notice all existing and prospective Government workers are to ensure they are registered with the NIA and obtained their identity numbers,” according to a notice issued by CAGD October 12, 2021 and signed by the acting Controller and Accountant-General, Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem.

Meanwhile, the government is currently embarking on a SIM card re-registration exercise using the Ghana Card as the only identification requirement.
